Software Development in 2021

Throughout the 21st century society has seen a grown dependence on technological abilities and machine learning. This, in turn, results in a surge of software development to meet these needs and boost the technological sphere. For the majority, it is these human needs and desires that drives the software development production line. The cycle is continued by companies embracing these technological needs and investing in software development with the help of firms like Sonicsoft.

Being in an industry that never stands still translates to a dynamic environment. Particularly over the past two years the online landscape has seen a very different approach that responded to Covid-19. As lockdown and restrictions were introduced as the normal, so was remote work and learning. Interestingly, many companies worldwide have realised and learned how different software can enable effective work and collaboration online and plan to shift future operations moving into a post Covid world. The 21st century is lucky to have the modern technological environment and software engineers that became “digital first responders”, meeting society’s needs globally.

Diving into a more technical look on the software landscape of 2021, the well-known programming language JavaScript has remained as #1. This was followed by Java, TypeScript, Python and C#. To those outside of the coding industry, these names refer to the system used to name and organise algorithm in code, so they are easy to locate and reuse in other equations. A language can be described as a “software for making software”.

Moving forward to popular development tools throughout 2021, Jira took the top position. Trello, GitHub Projects and GitHub Issues followed. Communication tools have seen email and Slack rise to the top as well as a large influx of Microsoft Teams and Zoom as expected with the pandemic. These results prove the dynamic nature of the industry and its’ dependence on societal needs as mentioned above. Further, it emphasises the power of software to respond to the client’s needs.

Statistics show that outsourcing software development has become increasingly popular and beneficial to several companies compared to previous years. Businesses have shown an appreciation and acknowledgement to software development firms like Sonicsoft who create a collaborative relationship and benefit overall operations.

While this only shows a small snippet of the software development trends for 2021, it presents how this area has and will continue to become more important and central to all aspects of society. If you would like to keep your business up to date with software trends and ensure a trusting relationship that translates to effective operations – please get in touch with Sonicsoft.

Finally, in a fast-growing space like software development, each year the world sees more encouragement for the concept to be introduced within the education curriculum. There has been an increase in software education to younger children, as the world sees the need for engineers in this niche and their impact on a company. We only hope the future of software development sees a world where more people can understand the power of the digital realm and aim to help our clients understand how we can improve their processes, systems and efficiency.
